Duraclean's Quicker Drying and More Effective Cleaning System
Most asked question: How long will it take my carpets (or furniture) to dry?
Short answer: 1 - 8 hours to dry with 4 hours being typical.
Long answer: Drying time depends on several key conditions some of which can be controlled to speed up the drying process.
Factors affecting drying times:
- Humidity of the indoor the air
- Temperature of the indoor air
- Air flow across the carpet/fabric
- Type of fiber used in carpet/fabric
- Density/thickness of carpet/ fabric
- Amount of soil present in carpet/fabric
A common customer comment: "The other cleaning company we had before left the carpets soaked. The carpet took days to dry."
This could be due to one or a combination of different factors.
1. The person doing the cleaning.
This person may not have been experienced enough to know better or perhaps like so many carpet cleaning companies this employee was in a rush to get to the next job. Rushed to get in as many jobs in the day as possible.
Duraclean leaves enough time to do the job scheduled for. We work efficiently but not rushed. If need be, we call our next job to let them know we'll be slightly delayed. The job needs to be done right the first time.
2. Equipment (extractor) being used.
The equipment needs to be powerful with plenty of air flow to help dry the carpets.
Duraclean uses powerful truckmounted equipment with modifications to the vacuum delivery system to increase airflow.
3. Type of extraction tool being used.
Most extraction tools are not designed very well for moisture pickup. But they are cheap. This is why they are so commonly used.
Duraclean employs extraction tools that are designed for maximum moisture/soil pickup. We have a variety of tools for this purpose depending on the degree of soiling. We also take the time to do dry extraction passes only. This really helps speed drying.
4. Turning up the thermostat.
Setting the thermostat to 68 - 72 degrees is just fine. Warm air holds more moisture than cool air. Evaporation rates are increased.
5. Increase air flow.
Turning on ceiling fans, portable fans, opening windows (in warm weather), turning on exhaust vents.
6. Decrease humidity levels
The use of a dehumidifier is very helpful, especially in the carpeted basements. Everyone should have one in their basement.
7. Clean more often.
By not letting your carpets/fabrics get overly soiled the less cleaning passes need to be made. This equates for less water being dispensed into the carpet/fabric. As a side benefit to cleaning more often, your carpets and upholstered furniture will last longer.
8. Other options.
We carry a special high speed fan that can be used under certain conditions. Just ask if you want speed drying.
Low pile type carpets can be drycleaned for immediate use after.
Other carpets may be cleaned with the encapsulation method with 1 hour dry times.
9. Winter time cleaning.
What is the best time of year for fast drying carpets? The winter months. Why? The humidity level is extremely low and the heat is on!
